How to use and care for it

For japa, hold at the sumeru and move bead by bead with the thumb and middle finger, never crossing the sumeru — turn back at it instead. Remove before bathing. Oil lightly with mustard or olive oil once a month to keep the beads from drying out.

Best day to wear it

Monday — Mahadev's day — is traditionally favoured for first wearing it.
