Where to hang it

Best on a north or east wall — south also works if recognition and fame are what you're after. The horses should run into the room, never facing out of a main door or window.

• Living room or study — at eye level, on a clear wall, with nothing stacked in front of it.

Avoid: the bedroom — it is an active, restless symbol and belongs out of spaces meant for rest. Also avoid facing a bathroom or staircase, and never behind a door where it stays hidden most of the day.
